Intact on Arrival

I’m flying out of town tomorrow, and Haki’s family prayer tonight was detailed, specific, and thoughtful in relation to the purposes of my trip. I did have to stifle my laughter however, when he prayed, “Bless Ange that she will arrive intact”.

That’s right, “intact”.

This word choice amused me greatly.

When I mentioned it later, Haki defended himself, “Well, I figure you could ‘arrive safely’, but lose an arm or something, and we’ll have none of that!”

I then asked, “Couldn’t one arrive intact, but still very dead?”

He laughed, and then teased, “Well, if you’re gonna die, we want an open casket”.
