Kvothe, the Legend

The Name of the Wind, Patrick Rothfuss

My Book Faery sent me a copy of this book.  Oh, how I am in her debt;
  • I haven't been really taken with a character since Daughter of Smoke and Bone, and not once within the fantasy genre.  Rothfuss' protagonist, Kvothe, however, is all I wished Druss and Pug would be (Gemmell and Feist's reluctant heroes).  If a book claims a hero to be epic and famed, then let them be overblown and exceptional, I say!  What is heroic fantasy, if not wish fulfillment?
  • Add to that some touches of good humour.
  • I am impressed that this is Rothfuss' debut.
  • I am eager to read more.
